Local Events in El Dorado County




The American River Festival is one of many family-friendly events in El Dorado County. Held annually, this festival offers competitive kayaking competitions, river-gear swaps, vendors, and many activities for children. The volunteer positions also offer great opportunities to become an active member of the community and spend a weekend by the American River.

The Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park
is another great location in El Dorado County. Guests of the park have the opportunity to pan for gold in the American River, and the park is also a good choice for a hike or a picnic. The most popular whitewater rafting resource on the West Coast - the south fork of the American River - is located in El Dorado County.
